Based on the true story of the 1998 murder of Matthew Shepard, a young gay college student in Laramie, Wyoming, the play captures the community’s response to this tragedy.

The script is drawn from real interviews, court transcripts, and personal accounts, weaving together the voices of more than sixty residents. The result is a deeply human portrait of small-town America—an exploration of empathy, justice, prejudice, and the lasting consequences of hate.
