What is a Relaxed Performance?

At High Tide Theatrical, we believe theatre should be a stage for every story—and every audience. That’s why we proudly offer Relaxed Performances: specially designed showings that provide a more welcoming environment for guests who may benefit from a less formal theatre setting.

Who is a Relaxed Performance for?

Relaxed Performances are open to all audience members, but they are especially ideal for:

  • Individuals with sensory sensitivities
  • Guests on the autism spectrum
  • Those with neurological or developmental differences
  • People who prefer or need more flexibility during a live performance

What to Expect

During a Relaxed Performance, we make slight adjustments to the typical theatre experience to support comfort and accessibility:

  • House lights remain partially on throughout the performance
  • Sound and lighting effects are modified to reduce sudden or intense moments
  • Audience movement and vocalizations are welcomed—you’re free to come and go as needed
  • A designated quiet space is available in the lobby for anyone who needs a break
  • Visual guides and sensory resources (such as our downloadable Sensory Guidebook) are provided in advance to help prepare for the experience

Same Story, Same Quality

The performance itself is unchanged in story, music, and talent—you’re still seeing the same powerful production, simply with small accommodations that make it more accessible and enjoyable for a wider range of guests.
